International cooperation

International cooperation is an integral part of the activities of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University. The main objective of international activities is the generation of strategic and tactical solutions to enhance the university’s international prestige on the basis of the unity of educational, scientific and innovative activities in all divisions, the promotion of the university on the international market of educational services, scientific research and development.

USPTU has a solid reputation in the international educational environment; it is a member of the International Association of Universities; it has cooperation agreements with foreign universities, companies and enterprises; it makes strenuous efforts to create a modern training system for foreign citizens and strengthen its position on the international market of educational services.

USPTU has been training international students since 1986. During this time, more than 2,000 foreign graduates have received university degrees and now are successfully employed in various areas of the oil and gas industry.

Currently, the University has 1,528 international students from 52 countries.

USPTU major international activities:
• training of international students (pre-university preparatory program (the Russian language), Bachelor’s, Master’s degree program, postgraduate and doctoral studies),
• training of human resources for foreign companies,
• additional professional education of oil and gas specialists,
• academic mobility of students and teachers,
• scientific and technical cooperation,
• organization of international social and cultural events.

International academic mobility of students and teachers includes the following programs:
• short-term internships, semester training,
• “2+3” program,
• ncluded education,
• double degree programs,
• summer school programs,
• “Invited Professors” program (foreign professors are invited to USPTU to give lectures and master classes to students);
• organizarion of USPTU teachers’ business trips to international partner universities for lecturing there.

Directions of international scientific and technical cooperation:
• rendering of research and engineering services on request of international oil and gas companies,
• joint research projects with international partner universities within the international grant programs of the Ministry of Science
and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Federal Target Program “Research and Development”) and the Russian
Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR),
• cooperation within international scientific conferences and forums.

An important activity of Ufa State Petroleuml Technological University is the development of international cooperation in the field of additional professional education of oil and gas specialists.
The university’s main structural division engaged in advanced training and professional retraining of oil and gas specialists is USPTU Institute of Additional Professional Education where around 600 international specialists and students annually improve their skills and undergo professional retraining. The Institute has developed and offers over 300 advanced training programs and over 70 professional retraining programs for all areas of professional activity of specialists engaged in the fuel and energy complex.

USPTU also provides employment at the university for its foreign graduates within the program of highly qualified personnel training (postgraduate training); at present, the university has 15 such staff members.

USPTU has international students from more than 50 countries and all of them represent their own culture, traditions and customs. For the purpose of social adaptation of international students, their introduction to the values of traditional ethnic cultures, principles of tolerance and humanity, USPTU annually organises cultural and sports events with the participation of international students, such as:
• National Cuture Days,
• USPTU International Families Meetings,
• Nowruz International Arts Festival ,
• International Africa Day,
• Futsal World Cup among international students and many others.

USPTU is an active member of the Association of International Students in Russia. Our international students honourably represent their university and country at the sessions of the Association and take winning prizes. One of the sessions is planned to be hosted by USPTU.
